The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's clothes failing to inform every member regarding the update. Social Media Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches other platforms. The platform has recommended to review their products and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Before the change, the sizes had both numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Manual Updates A different user, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said. Marketplace Information The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change to its shipping options following member complaints.
